Personalised Cardiac Modelling Lab

Are you a student with research interests in biomedical engineering? If so, you may be interested in our cardiovascular research programme at the Personalised Cardiac Modelling Lab.

In our lab, you will have the opportunity to work with different types of cardiac arrhythmia, such as atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is a heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate. When the disease persists and affects the patient's quality of life, procedures called catheter ablation become one of the most effective treatments.

At the Personalised Cardiac Modelling Lab, we are working to advance the technology that will help improve the outcome of catheter ablation procedures. Ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat or cold to destroy tissue that is causing the arrhythmia in the human heart.

During your work with us, you will benefit from:

  • Building a strong background in the cardiovascular research field.
  • Running software tools that are considered to be cutting-edge technology in the cardiovascular research field.
  • Gaining the confidence to conduct your final year research project in our lab by the time you reach your third year.
  • Having the opportunity to present your work at scientific events at QMUL or scientific conferences.
  • Collaborating with a team of experienced researchers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with cardiac arrhythmia.

Receiving guidance from our team to help you decide on your career development.
