Two posters from our team were presented at the prestigious Posters in Parliament event, alongside highly selected undergraduates from other UK universities.

This annual conference brings together the best undergraduate researchers from various universities across the UK, with each institutions selecting the two best projects to be showcased through poster presentation.

This marks our second participation in the event, with the following posters presented:

  • Poster 1: "Development of Novel Surface Textures to Reduce Aerodynamic Drag", presented by Ms Jarifa Tasnim Shah and Mr Arrin Fernandes (3rd-year Aerospace Engineering students) and supervised by Dr Kshitij Sabnis. This project, which has won the price of best poster at the Industrial Liaison Forum at QMUL last November, explores the development of riblets to minimize aerodynamic drag.
  • Poster 2: "Seeing Through Touch: A Method for Navigation of the Visually Impaired" presented by the interdisciplinary team of Cybathlon Society, led by Balvinder Dhillon: Seagull Presanna Nithyanandam, Bohdan Skulimovskyi, Charmaine Winky Wong, Ria Chandarana, Tamas Attila Hajdu, Jensen Jill Rajesh, Rindhiya Vishnu Shankar, Ella Miller, Shayan Usman, and Antoni Kocan. The project is supervised by Prof Lei Su and advised by Dr Giuseppe Viola. This impactful research focuses on visuo-tactile assistive technology designed to enhance navigation for individuals with visual impairments.

Comments from Dr Giuseppe Viola: "It is very exciting to see our students presenting high-quality research, gaining recognition, and attracting interest at these national events. Their participation showcases their talent and reflects the dedication and excellence of our team in fostering undergraduate research. Engaging in these events reaffirms our commitment to developing future researchers and innovators, strengthening our legacy, and solidifying our presence in influential undergraduate research contexts".
